The Doors - Absolutely Live. I don’t like The Doors even half as much as I used to in high school. ”The End” (which is not included on this LP) can still give me chills but that’s due to Robbie Krieger’s guitar playing more than anything else. I also really like “The Crystal Ship” (also not included on this LP) but my favorite version of it is a bonus track on a Robyn Hitchcock bootleg called Stand Back, Dennis! where he’s taking song requests on KROQ. Someone asks for something by The Doors, everybody laughs and then Hitchcock plays the song off the top of his head and nails it. I like how it begins with everyone (except Hitchcock) mocking The Doors and ends with admiration. What I do enjoy on Absolutely Live is the Bo Diddley cover (Who Do You Love) and “The Celebration Of The Lizard.”
