Curious about Frank Zappa but don’t know where to start?  Here are Zappa’s five best instrumental albums.  If you don’t like songs about yellow snow or valley girls I recommend these.  And before you pounce on me for being wrong:  Yes, I know four of these DO have vocals on them and one of them has been available in the past with vocals added.  But these are MOSTLY instrumental and the music is some of the best you will ever hear.  In order from best to slightly less best (and entirely my own opinion) they are:  Hot Rats, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, Waka/Jawaka, The Grand Wazoo (which, unfortunately, I don’t own on vinyl), and Sleep Dirt.
